Japanese Product name:ロッテ 爽 贅沢濃味バニラ
The ultimate vanilla flavor brought by fermented butter and concentrated milk sauce
Meet the latest creation from ‘Soh,’ Lotte’s wildly popular ice cream series famous for its signature ultra-fine ice crystals!
The delightfully crisp texture of tiny ice particles and its refreshing mouthfeel have made it a summer favorite. It’s no wonder so many people crave this perfectly refreshing treat to beat the summer heat.
Among the lineup, the classic vanilla flavor has always been a standout, where smooth milk harmonizes with micro ice crystals to create an incredibly fresh and invigorating taste experience.
Now, Soh takes luxury to new heights with their latest masterpiece: an exquisite vanilla ice cream infused with cultured butter and generously layered with condensed milk sauce in a mille-feuille style. This extraordinary combination inspired its fitting name: ‘Luxuriously Rich Vanilla’ – a title that perfectly captures both its premium quality (贅沢/Zeitaku :Luxuriously) and its intensely satisfying depth of flavor (濃味/koiaji : Rich).
Just how rich can condensed milk be? And what does cultured butter taste like? Let’s dive in and discover for ourselves.
Time for the big reveal🙂

See that beautiful spiral pattern? That’s the condensed milk sauce making its grand entrance.
This sauce, prominently featured right in the product name, is remarkably dark for something milk-based. When I first saw the package, I actually mistook it for cultured butter – I mean, just look at that buttery color!
Now it’s starting to look exactly like sweetened condensed milk! Who knew milk could transform into such a deep, rich color when concentrated?

Taking a taste… wow, it really is intense! It’s like condensed milk minus the sweetness, delivering a luxuriously rich and full-bodied taste.
Here’s what it looks like after scooping:

You can see the distinct layers of sauce and ice cream. Lotte describes this layering effect as ‘mille-feuille’-style.
In case you’re wondering where the butter is – it’s actually melted right into the ice cream. Perhaps this is why the ice cream seems to melt a bit faster than other Soh varieties like the classic vanilla flavor.
After each bite, there’s a lingering sensation – a smooth, rich finish with the subtlest hint of tanginess. This is where you can truly taste the difference that cultured butter makes.
And yes, Soh’s signature ultra-fine ice crystals are definitely present, though they’re even finer than the regular version, creating a more delicate texture. This subtle crystallization perfectly complements the rich flavors of condensed milk and butter without overwhelming them, while still adding that characteristic refreshing quality. The balance is just right – rich and creamy without being too heavy.
Speaking of which, did you know that besides the regular vanilla, there’s also a winter-exclusive version? I’d love to try them side by side and discover the differences!
