About Morinaga Milk Pudding

Morinaga Milk Pudding, commercialized by Morinaga Milk Industry Co., Ltd. in 1995, is a dessert beloved by Japanese people of all ages.
Its key ingredient, Morinaga Milk, was introduced in 1952. At that time, Japan’s milk production technology lagged behind other countries, struggling with the problem of fat separation where fat content would concentrate at the top of the milk. Amid these challenges, Morinaga Milk Industry Co., Ltd. tackled this issue through innovative homogenization technology and successfully developed ‘Morinaga Milk,’ which overcame these problems.
Due to its high quality and rich content of essential nutrients like vitamin D and calcium, it became widely popular among the Japanese people.
From there, Morinaga Milk Pudding was created as a way to enjoy this milk as a sweet treat.

The ice bar I’m introducing today is a spin-off product born from this Morinaga Pudding. It was made possible through a collaborative project with the convenience store chain Lawson.
With each taste, you can experience not only milk’s naturally rich flavor brought to its fullest potential, but also sense Morinaga Milk Industry’s years of relentless pursuit of excellence.

The character illustrated on the package is ‘Homo-chan.’ It was designed to look like the sun, representing how drinking milk and getting sunlight helps build strong bones. Since the launch of Morinaga Milk in 1952, Homo-chan has been beloved by Japanese people to this day.

Now for the unveiling.

While most Japanese people have eaten Morinaga Milk Pudding at some point, few may have clear memories of its taste. In fact, I too had almost forgotten its taste since eating it as a child. But the moment I tasted this ice bar, I suddenly remembered – “Ah, now I recall …!” The memories come flooding back.
With its mild sweetness and unpretentious, pure, gentle flavor that puts milk’s taste front and center, it’s remarkable how memories long buried in the past bubble up alongside the milk flavor, bringing with them an unexpectedly nostalgic feeling.

The inspiration for Morinaga Milk Pudding comes from the hot milk our mothers would make for us as children. This pudding was created with the hope of preserving that gentle taste and nostalgia we experienced when drinking hot milk on cold winter days or when we were sick.
